ALL-WEATHER COVERT CLEAR FLOATING
Monic originally patented the clear floating fly line in 1994. Since that time, our All Weather Covert Clear line has undergone constant development. Today, the coating technology combined with the industry’s only HOLLOW, CLEAR CORE brings a fly line that has low memory, can be fished in any temperature, does not need added lubricants or floatants, and floats clear and high for ultra-stealthy presentations. Whether stalking permit in the clear waters of the Florida Keys or presenting a mahogany dun to the educated rainbows of the Henry’s Fork, Monic’s All Weather Covert Clear fly line is the simple choice to help bring fish to hand.
Fly fishing is a year-round sport and takes place in a variety of locations and environmental situations. For years, fly lines have been marketed as cold water, arctic, tropical, still water, warm water, etc. This delineation of the product line causes complexity for both anglers and fly shops. All Monic fly lines are suitable for all temperatures. A Monic line will perform equally well in all temperatures, whether it is used for winter steelhead with snow on the riverbank or if it is being directed toward tailing permit from the bow of a hot skiff in the tropics. This saves the angler time, money, confusion, and space.
The hollow core of the All Weather Covert Clear fly line has the lowest density of all clear cores. This core combines with a coating that also floats. The buoyancy of this line allows the angler to keep the fly where it needs to be while assisting in line management.
Line memory has long been an issue with floating clear fly lines. Our proprietary core technology combined with a secret polyethylene-blend coating virtually eliminates all line memory and offers a line that is hassle-free. We have tested the All Weather Covert Clear fly line throughout the world and it has proven to be the best floating clear fly line ever available and have less memory than even the most supple lines (clear or opaque) on the market.
The polyethylene-blend coating found on the All Weather Covert Clear fly line does not contain the volatile chemicals that must be added to PVC in order to create a fly line. This shift in technology is important to maintain the durability of the line. Previously, these added chemicals would constantly leach out into the environment. This is why we steer away from PVC baby toys and food containers—they emit poison. As those chemicals migrate out of the plastic, a void is created in the compound. Not only does this alter the compound from its initial, intended characteristics, but that void forces the compound to crack over time. This is where the circumferential cracks on a PVC fly line are born. Add dirt, oil, and other foreign debris to the cracks and performance degrades. The All Weather Covert Clear fly lines do not lose material over time, and therefore do not crack. This is important in the overall durability of the line and its performance longevity for the angler.
Made in the USA
